Teaching

My long-standing teaching experience was mostly collected at MCTS, TUM, and the Philosophy and STS Departments, University of Klagenfurt, but also at FH Joanneum, Graz, Austria. Most of my recent teaching was conducted on the Masters level, and in English.

Courses that I repeatedly taught include:

  • Philosophy of Science and Technology, within the MA curriculum “Science and Technology Studies”, MCTS (2017-2020)
  • Data/Science/Society, within the MSC curricula “Data Science and Engineering” and “Mathematics in Data Science”, MCTS (2017-2021)
  • Brains and other Machines and Models and Simulations in Science, within the MA curriculum “Philosophy of Science and Technology”, MCTS and at AAU (2015-2016)
  • Ethics and Technology Assessment, within the MSc curriculum “Advanced Security Engineering”, FH Joanneum (2008-2012)

I have examined two doctoral theses so far, by Thomas Hainscho on Der Mensch als Maschine. Modelle des Menschen bei René Descartes und Denis Diderot, Department of Philosophy, AAU (as co-supervisor, completed June 2020), and Bernd Guttmannsbauer on Bruno Latours ‘missing masses of morality’ in technikphilosophischer Hinsicht, Department of Philosophy, University of Vienna (as external examiner, completed March 2018).
